CityCat, KittyCat and express: Brisbane's river ferries explained
Brisbane's river ferries explained: the all-stops CityCat F1, express F11 and F12, and the cross-river KittyCat routes F21 to F24.
In this story
Brisbane City Council runs three kinds of river service. Knowing which is which saves time.
The all-stops CityCat (F1)
The F1 runs daily from UQ St Lucia to Northshore Hamilton. It's the main CityCat line, running the length of a network of 22 terminals. Use it for most trips along the river.
Express CityCats (F11 and F12)
Express services run in weekday peak periods only:
- F11: Apollo Road to Riverside
- F12: West End to QUT Gardens Point
Details are on the express CityCat page.
Cross-river ferries (F21 to F24)
Four cross-river routes run at a regular all-day frequency, operated by the council's KittyCat ferries:
- F21: Bulimba to Teneriffe
- F22: Dockside to Sydney Street
- F23: Holman Street to Riverside
- F24: Maritime Museum to QUT Gardens Point
Details are on the KittyCat cross-river ferries page.
Which should I catch?
- Travelling along the river at any time: the F1.
- Weekday peak between the express end points: check whether an express runs.
- Crossing the river between two nearby terminals: a cross-river ferry.
