The repository's first commit, on 20 October 2026, is titled "Initial commit: Swift Axis News CMS and public site". It describes a Go/Gin backend with Postgres, Pocket ID OIDC sign-in, a Svelte admin single-page app and an Astro public site with automated rebuilds.

The same day a second commit (32a82e7) renamed the public "notes" to Briefs. It moved them to /briefs (keeping /notes redirects for old links) and added The Wire, a ticker in the header and a Briefs widget on the home page. Behind the scenes the backend kept its /notes API.

At this point Swift Axis was a conventional news site: posts, briefs, tags and a static site generated from the API.
